Men's cowboy boots are a country classic. They're worn all year round, and they’re proof that Western style is here to stay. Here's my personal ranking of the best cowboy boots for men.

FYI, prices and ratings are accurate as of time of writing.

1. Ariat - Circuit Patriot Western Boots

best cowboy boots

Highlight: Leather grain on both upper and foot.

Helpful review: I’ve seen the Ariat commercials just like everyone else. They’re catchy, too. And I knew these boots were good for work and riding, obviously, but to be frank, I wasn’t exactly sure if they would be good for what I wanted them for. See, I’m a biker, motorcycles are my fancy, and when you ride like I do, you want something comfortable, and something that will protect your feet if God forbid you end up taking a fall.
I wasn’t entirely sure that these would fit my purpose, but boy was I wrong. When these big boys came in, I was flabbergasted, at least that’s how my kids described my expression. Not only was the color exactly what I wanted, but you could just see the quality radiating off them. In minutes, the whole house filled with the sound of leather, I loved it!
If I haven’t made it clear–I’m actually a girl. So my only complaint is that this cut was definitely made for a man. I already wear nearly a size twelve, but somehow these boots made my feet look even larger. I think if they make a model for women, then it would be even better. But honestly, I’m still going to wear them, because I love the quality so much! They’re seriously amazing!
A FEW WORDS FROM RICK CAMPBELL:
I’m a city girl, not a cowboy, but man do I feel like one now! I had a slight issue with my first order, but since I purchased through Amazon, I had no issue replacing it for another model, and the second pair was exactly what I was hoping for! I was shocked when I first started researching the cost of cowboy boots, and for that reason, I think the price of these is actually really reasonable. In other words, this is worth it, and definitely a great value for the price. I’m now a huge Ariat fan, and would definitely buy from them again. The design is freaking awesome, and I get nonstop compliments whenever I’m wearing them out in public. Did I mention they’re comfortable? I love them so much! Talk about style, quality leather, and an all around value!
MY NEIGHBOR’S REVIEW:
These Ariat boots are the definition of comfortable and affordable style. The leather is superb quality, and they’re so durable and look amazing in any outfit, even when I’m not on the farm. I really love the American flag on the side, it’s an extra patriotic flair I’m all about. They offer the same amount of support regardless of whether I’m riding a horse or walking down the street. These Ariat Circuit boots are everything I wanted and more. That’s a five out of five from me! — Robin Rodarmer

2. Wolverine - Men’s Rancher Steel Toe Work Boot

best cowboy boots

Highlight: Footbed includes a removable orthopedic cushion.

Helpful review: As an electrician, I need good quality boots. And after three years wearing these babies, I can officially say I’ve found the brand that I’m going to stay with for the rest of my career! These really are quality work boots. I can use them for the road when I'm riding my bike, behind the desk, while working, climbing ladders, etc... essentially wherever they need an electrician, you’ll find me and my Wolverine Steel Toe boots!
I was assuming that the quality would degrade over time, but after three years they’re going just as strong, for real. I think the price is more than reasonable when you consider you’re getting a solid quality product that will last a long time. I love that they keep me warm in winter but yet don’t overheat my feet in the summer.
Just beware, that the steel part of the toe is a little heavy, but it’s to be expected if you really want to keep your feet protected. I climb a lot of ladders in my profession, and that’s usually how I can judge the comfort level of a boot, and let me tell you something: These are the most comfortable boots I’ve tried out there. After twelve hours on my feet, there’s no fatigue, not aches in my arches, just pure bliss.
Beware they run a little larger, but I actually prefer it that way. If you stand on your feet as much as I do, you’re going to have some swelling, so I don’t think it’s a very big issue at all. That being said, I think their sizing is off. I literally had to size down two sizes so that was odd, but I played around with it. I’d recommend actually measuring your feet to make sure you’re getting the proper size.
Other than that, I would say these are a worthwhile investment, and ones that will last you a lifetime.
A FEW WORDS FROM A NEIGHBOR, TIM LOWS:
After a bad break in my right foot as a teenager, I’ve found that I now need to wear wider boots, especially on that foot–there’s a hard knot of scar tissue and cartilage there and I find it difficult getting boots that don’t bother this area. Imagine a bunion, but on the side of your feet! For that reason, I always size up half a size, and these boots were no different. To balance them out, I normally just put an insert into the left boot, and that’s what I did here. They’re freaking amazing, seriously. My foot cramping is gone and I have no pain. Honestly, I’m going to buy another pair in a different color, I love them that much!
JACK WRANGLER'S REVIEW:
After six years, I finally retired my Wolverine boots, but let me tell you, that is a lifetime for boots, especially when you work over fifty hours a week in mud and dirt outside in construction. I didn’t have to think twice about whether or not I wanted to try a different brand. I didn’t even order a different color. I had the exact same pair shipped to my house and I’m pleased to see that in over half a decade, they’re still holding up with the same durable quality. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know, then I’m not sure what will! — Cooper Randol

3. HISEA - Western Cowboy Boots

best cowboy boots

Highlight: With a warranty that lasts a lifetime, you can’t beat that kind of customer service.

Helpful review: I’m a freelance everything, meaning I work construction, lawn, electric, car maintenance, pretty much anything you can create with your hands, I’m doing. And I knew I needed to protect my feet. Not only do they remain comfortable when riding a motorcycle, they have a good give, letting me move with flexibility whenever I need to bend down or squat or even do some line dancing during a day off.
Not only are they water and oil resistant, but they have a good grip, making me feel safe in slick areas so I don’t have to worry about slipping. I’m pretty sure that the shock absorption is half the reason they’re so comfortable, too. I really needed safety with my boots, and I love how they have a wide safety too (I have big feet, what can I say?) Oh and the heels have a gel padding inside that really helps balance out the comfort. Plus, the pull tabs make everything that much easier.
I love these boots in industrial settings, on the farm with my horses, or even just walking around town. I didn’t think it was possible to get a combination of safety and comfort, but these boots have proved me otherwise. The sizing was accurate, too, which is always a nice plus. Not all 100 percent leather books are made the same, but these definitely top the barrel.
A FEW WORDS FROM ERIC GAGNON, MT:
Talk about an amazing pair of boots. Performance comes at a price, and I was more than happy to spend that on this pair after the plethora of positive reviews I found. The leather is flexible and soft, which really helps with the movement ability in these boots. You can tell there was some serious care put into the construction of these, even down to the finest detail. The only drawback I can see is that you’ll never have to use the lifetime warranty, because they’re honestly that freaking great. However, I do like that the QR code makes it super easy to access the lifetime warranty just in case. You can tell HISEA really stands behind their products, so after this purchase, I officially stand behind them.
BILL LEVY'S REVIEW:
After activating the lifetime warranty, I can officially say these boots are five stars, which is not something that I hand out lightly. I almost gave them a four, mainly because I’m a girl and you can tell the cut is made for men. But that honestly seems pretty standard in the boot world. Hey, who knows, maybe I’ll start learning how to make women's boots? It would be nice if there was an open for black design for the pull on steel toe, but it is what it is. I’m a lumberjack and safety and comfort is what’s most important over style, and these boots cross that off and then some–even if they make my feet look like a man’s. — Jess Millwood

4. Dixhills - Embroidered Old-Western Cowboy Boots

best cowboy boots

Highlight: Durable for the toughest environments.

Helpful review: I’m really glad I took the reviews advice and ordered a size up, because they fit perfectly, so let this be a warning for you to do that, as well. I was obsessed when I first got them, but less than six months in, I realized the left boot was falling apart, and that was pretty disappointing. After what I paid, I expected them to last at least a year, I mean come on.
UPDATE:
After posting my initial review, I was surprised to find the manufacturer reached out to me and offered to replace the boots free of charge. Talk about quality customer service. Once the new boots came in, I upgraded my two stars to a solid five, and I’m happy to report that a year later, they’re still holding strong! They’re by far the most comfortable shoes I own (even more so than my non boot models). The material and design is awesome, so if you know of any cowboys in your life, then these are the shoes for them!
A FEW WORDS FROM JASON CRAWLY:
I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when I purchased these, but boy am I happy about it! The build of these boots is all about the quality, I’m not kidding on that. The size is a little bigger than I expected, but I read that a lot of manufacturers do that to consider swelling that happens when you’re on your feet all day, so take that into consideration. If you’re not on your feet that much, you might want to get half a size smaller. I like that the soles have good traction, and I like how they feel and look overall!
TRENT SUNDERLAND'S REVIEW:
I’m so happy I bought these Dixhills boots. I’m no cowboy, but I definitely feel like one now! The Old West style makes me feel like I’m straight from Coyote Ugly haha and there’s some great detail in the embroidery of them. Even so, the square shape of the toe makes it have a modern touch that aids in the comfort of wearing them. I knew they’d be good for horseback riding, as well as motorcycle riding, but I was pleasantly surprised to find how good they were for hiking as well. Their grip is stronger than some of my actual hiking boots, believe it or not. Oh, and did I mention they don’t break the boot? Yeah definitely worth it in my book! Five stars, here ya go! — Jay Starling

5. IUV - Classic Slip-Resistant Boots

best cowboy boots

Highlight: Slip-resistant sole makes these boots durable and sturdy.

Helpful review: I need a good pair of high quality boots and I’m so happy I went with this pair. Yeah, like most of the other cowboy boots on the market, they do seem like they’re made for men–would be really nice to have other options, but with the limited choices available, I think I got the best option for a woman. They don’t make my feet look massive, and they’re still stylish enough for me.
I do recommend comparing and measuring your feet to the sizing chart on the site, but that’s just my advice. I think they’re solid enough that they can pass as boots for women, too. The stitching is so strong, and I was happy to find no loose threads, like I’ve seen on other types of boots. You can tell the stitching is legit, instead of it being something glued together. The box in the toe is more than roomy and I love that it has an average sized width–sometimes I find there’s only narrow and wide, so it was nice to find that these had a middle ground, and that they were accurately sized, too!
Keep in mind that these aren’t geared for horseback riding. Their block isn’t as high as you might expect, because they’re not designed to sit inside a stirrup. I didn’t buy them for that purpose though, so it doesn't bother me. I like how they reach my calves, too, which are a good size.
I do think you could still get away with wearing them on the farm, though, also considering I bought them for fashion, I would hate to get them dirty! They’re really beautiful, and they just compliment every outfit I put on! If you're riding a bike, these would work perfectly. Just read my friend's, Bryan Wilson's review below! Oh, and did I mention how absolutely comfortable they are? I wear these babies all day, and my feet still feel good!
A FEW WORDS FROM A NEIGHBOR, BRYAN WILSON:
Howdy, boys! These IUV’s cowboy boots are everything I could have wanted and more! They’re durable and sturdy on the outside, and soft and comfortable on the outside–just like the best men out there. Toxicity is out! Didn't you hear? Now, let’s down to the nitty gritty. These have a four layer technology in their insoles that add such a solid level of support, you know you won’t be disappointed. The square toe gives that stereotypical cowboy design appeal, making you fit right in regardless of whether you’re at the farm, rodeo, or out line dancing! They’re my go to boots if I want to show off some cowboy swagger haha! And I’m not even a real cowboy, but I sure do feel like one when I dawn these on my bike! I ride a Honda Rebel, and these boots feel real good on it. Oh, and they’re slip resistant, so when I attempt to dance and ultimately fail, I ain't going nowhere! These are the boots I used for most of my dates when I’m trying to woo a woman into the sunset! Yee-haw!
MY FRIEND'S REVIEW:
I’m so happy I was able to get these black cowboy boots just in time for the school dance. The leather is such good quality and I automatically feel awesome when I wear them. The inside of them are comfortable and I love the stitching and design on the outside. I really can’t complain, other than to say that the sizing is a little off, but the company has awesome customer service so they managed to send me a better size just in time for me to dance the night away! I definitely recommend these boots if you’re looking for something high quality when it comes to both material and customer service! — Brent Tilly
