Highlight: Continuous range readings, ARC (angle range compensation), and Speed Measuring.

Helpful review: "Here are seven things to love about this product:
(1) Price - way cheaper than expensive range finders with all the same bells and whistles.
(2) Magnet - spend a few more dollars and get the MTL version that comes with the magnet. It’s strong and gives you a lot of confidence leaving it on the cart post.
(3) Accuracy - I noticed almost no difference when comparing it against my friend’s more expensive range finder.
(4) Flag Lock - there is a feature that allows you to be confident you’ve locked on to the flag and not a tree behind it.
(5) Slope - turning the slope on/off is super easy if you need to play in an event that doesn’t allow it.
(6) Fit - the way this range finder fits in you hand is awesome. Seems like a minor thing, but it’s something you’ll enjoy when using it.
(7) Bag - the bag it comes in seems to be a good quality and resembles the more expensive brands.
All in all, great product for a good price. Not sure why others would go for more expensive products. Perhaps they have pro shop credit to use up." — Phyllis L. Baker

Highlight: Easy-Read, Through-The-Lens display.

Helpful review: "This is the first rangefinder I've ever owned. After researching different rangefinders I decided on the TecTecTec VPRO500 (1) because of the reviews and (2) because the price is closer to what I wanted to spend. I came very close to spending more just because of a brand name. Glad I didn't. I received this on Aug 22nd. I noticed how comfortable it was to fit in the palm of my hand and how easy it was to locate each button (2 of them) on top of the rangefinder. Seems to be well built and sturdy. Came with a nice case that seems durable and a lens cloth to clean the glass. I received an email from TecTecTec before receiving this, thanking me for the order, and with tips on how to use once I do receive. This was very helpful. Am very impressed with the customer service.
First thing I wanted to do after receiving was test this out by marking off 5 yard increments up to 50 yards. The VPRO500 was spot on at each distance. Once on the range I tested the pin seeker. Was very easy to pin the flag and get the distance. I tend to have a steady hand so for me it is very easy for me to get a quick reading. The scan mode is also easy to use. Just point and press. Results was the same on the course. Yardage to the flag was spot on and easy to switch to the scan mode all in one motion to get reading to front of the green.
This sure made selecting the correct club easy. Also comes in handy on the tee box to get distance to fairway bunkers or other hazards. During the Labor day weekend I played a round with a friend who had a Bushnell rangefinder that had the jolt feature. He told me his Bushnell cost $369.00. Side by side, both the VPRO500 and the Bushnell were accurate to the yard on every par 3. I even tried the Bushnell and can say that except for the jolt I could see no difference. I personally thought the VPRO500 was more comfortable. Both performed with accurate readings.
After the round my friend was very impressed with the VPRO500 and said that if to do over again and what he knows now he would choose the VPRO500. I have now played 5 rounds and the VPRO500 has performed as advertised each time. It si very easy to use and I would not hesitate to recommend to a friend. I'm very glad I purchased the TecTecTec VPRO500." — Jack Jenkins

3. AOFAR HX-700N - 700 Yards Hunting Range Finder

best rangefinders for hunting

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Easily identifies target with continuous scan.

Helpful review: "I had a very expensive ($400+) rangefinder from a major brand for several years. I used it infrequently for hunting and setting fence lines. Last time I used it, it listed every new battery I installed as 'half or less' charged and would not range at all. I wrote the manufacturer. It only had a 2 year warranty. They offered reduced price 'replacements' that were 50% or more than this unit I am rating now, and with less ranging capability than this AOFAR. No more expensive rangefinders for me. This unit does what I need. I can replace it in a few years if I don't drop it or wreck it. Good to go!" — Josiah Ulman.
Trending review: "This HX-700N is the best value in a rangefinder that I have found. It is everything it is advertised to be. It is easy to use, accurate and versatile. The multiple modes, which includes a speed mode, allow it to even be used on a golf course. I have only ranged to 400yds, and that was a leafy tree, but anything beyond that is beyond my ethical hunting yardage." — Judy Milliman
Trending review: "I have been searching for a new range finder for my hunting and golf. A friend told me about AOFAR range finder which he is using. Glad I tried it. The instructions included all the details you need to know how to use it. And it is pretty simple to figure out how to use it by myself. With 6x magnification, it is very easy to lock the target and read the distance." — Irise Davison
Most-discussed review: "I was on the fence about this product only because my son hunts a lot and his range finder was older but a brand I knew. This is just as good of a quality piece as the other. Price is a good point for the quality." — Tracy Duncan

4. TideWe - 1,000 Yards Hunting Rangefinder with a Rechargeable Battery

best rangefinders for hunting

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Displays a straight-line vertical distance, horizontal distance, and speed to your target.

Helpful review: "I like high-quality brand-name products. I like Leupold scopes and Nikon binoculars. I figure buy cheap get cheap! This is not the case with this product. I had no problem spending $200 more for a rangefinder if I got more for my money. This rangefinder does everything right with all the features you want. Compact size, lightweight, ease of use. and a great case. It uses a magnet for closure instead of velcro for quiet opening. I generally do not take the time to write reviews. With this product, I felt compelled and happy to do it! I did buy the "WOSPORTS Hunting Range Finder" and sent it back and bought this TIDEWE. I could not be any happier!" — Harry McKenney
Trending review: "For the money I don’t think you will find a better range finder. I love how compact it is. It is rechargeable which is great. The case has a magnet instead of noisy Velcro which is a plus. It gives a reading instantly instead of a 1-2 second delay like other brands I have used. I would definitely recommend this range finder" — Terry Fox
Reassuring Review: "This range finder is super easy to use. Love taking it out deer hunting to make sure I can make the shot and not wound it. Have loved this range finder so much that I bought one for my husband, son, and brother! They all seem to love it too! Can't go wrong with it if you love to hunt!" — Corry Town

5. TecTecTec ProWild - 540 Yards Hunting Rangefinder

best rangefinders for hunting

Highlight: Complete hunting package for a quick setup.

Helpful review: "This rangefinder works exactly as advertised. I use it for shooting, to determine range to target, and it appears to be right on. The display is easy to read and use, and Tec Tec Tec sent me two separate e-mails before the unit even arrived to let me know it was shipped and how to use some common functions as well as FAQ. Awesome customer service, I have to say. My son uses this thing for air-soft when he plays sniper to determine when his opponents are in range and what mill dot to use. Of course, his ranges for Airsoft only go to about 120 yards max, and this is perfect for him because of the great changes in aim point at closer distances seen in air-soft. Only con, if you can call it that - no illumination for readout. The advantage of that would be early morning or late evening hunting. But for regular use, no problem. Not sure if more expensive units offer that feature. One reviewer suggested using a cell phone to illume the reading, but have not tried that yet. Overall, unit and service exceeds expectations. Would highly recommend." — David Babington
Trending review: "I researched and researched range finder products for weeks. Not wanting to spend much over $100, I arrived at the TecTecTec Prowild Hunting range finder. After receiving this product, I immediately began testing and using this product out to about 100 yards. So far, I am very pleased. It took me a minute or two to figure out the distance measurement modes, thus the 4 rating on the "Ease to use", but after that, I was up and running. This range finder reports that it's good out to over 500 yards, but since I mostly only hunt Central Texas whitetail, I probably won't use it to measure distances much beyond 150 yards. In the meantime, I think this is money well spent considering so many so-called high end range finders are are well in excess of $300. If you're wanting to dip your toe into using a range finder without using it in extreme conditions, I recommend this range finder." — Trevor Green

6. Gogogo Sport Vpro - Laser Golf and Hunting Rangefinder

best rangefinders for hunting

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Slope Switch and Internal Magnets.

Helpful review: "Have used this rangefinder for golf, hunting, and practice at the shooting range. Appears to be fairly accurate. Handheld, so it's a bit wobbly when ranging a target. But with practice you can hold on to target mark for an accurate reading. Lightweight and easy to stick in my golf bag, range bag, or afield while hunting. Now, listen, I've used a Garmin Golf Watch for years. Getting the distance from my watch always seemed "close enough." Then, I played a course and overshot two holes by at least 10 yards. The distance logged on the watch was the distance I chose to hit, but once I ended in a sandtrap over the green, the next time--in the woods. I bought this range finder the next day, and it was delivered that afternoon. On Sunday I played the same course, and Garmin did indeed have the distances wrong. If you're good enough to want to know distances down to the yard, this cheap rangefinder does the trick. I can't imagine why you'd pay more. This one works. So far, so great. I shot an 89 without the range finder and an 81 with it. That's all the proof I needed." — Christopher Klein
Trending review: "Better than expected! Really happy with this . Bought it for hunting and target practice beforehand. Couldn’t be happier. Light, easy to use, and so far I’m still on the first battery. I’ve been playing with it everywhere for a couple weeks now. It’s not indestructible, though. But if you’re easy on things, this is right up your alley. I have not tested it in wet conditions and will update if any problems arise." — Jason Hall
Reassuring review: "What I like about this product is the accuracy. It's also very easy to use and, yes, very light. But I have to say something about the cap to the battery - make sure you don't bump it around and that it's always on correctly because it's sensitive for falling off. But overall it works perfectly. I highly recommend this rangefinder." — Joel Cruz

7. Vortex Optics Ranger - 1800 Yards Laser Rangefinder

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Easy to use; features a clean, illuminated display and highly intuitive menu.

Helpful review: "I was looking for a rangefinder that could consistently range 1000 yards. This one does just that and then some. The furthest I’ve been able to range was 1400 on the dot against tree foliage. But I think in a perfect controlled environment you could achieve the 1800 mark. I bought this for archery first and the ability to ring steel at 1000 years second. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase. My first copy had an issue with the threads for the tripod mount. I called vortex and they offered to fix or replace it with no questions asked. They quoted me a 2 week turnaround time. Since I had just purchased it as a prime member, I opted to just do an exchange through amazon in order to have the issue resolved in a few day. Great product, great customer service from both vortex and amazon. Buy with confidence!" — Jeffery Fisher
Trending review: "I bought this rangefinder for my husband for Christmas this year and we absolutely love it. But here's what prompted me to buy this Vortex. We took our older Bushnell out for the hunt this year and spotted three bucks about 80 yards away, from the angle we were at. My husband nocked an arrow and shot right over it's back. We waited a little while and tried to get closer so that I could get a shot off, because I don't feel comfortable from that distance. We ranged another buck at about 55 yards from the angle we were at. I nocked an arrow and it went right over it's back again. We left the mountain, and we were devastated. We figured that it had to be the angle that we were shooting from and that our rangefinder didn't have the compensating ability. I bought this Vortex Optics Ranger 1800 and we've been shooting at targets from different angles and distances. I can honestly say that this rangefinder is accurate at all different angles and distances. I feel 100% confident that we will not leave another mountain without a buck on our backs! Also, with a lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong!" — Brittany Mick

8. Bushnell 4x21 - 600 Yards Hunting Laser Rangefinder

best rangefinders for hunting

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: Realtree Xtra camo pattern.

Helpful review: "Great little range finder and a real bargain. But, before you buy be sure you understand what it's intended for. I see where some reviewers complain that it didn't work at 350 yards on a Antelope or a bull elk 850 yards away. This is a 200 yard max range finder for deer and larger game animals. You can certainly range on other objects (trees, large rocks, buildings, signs, etc.) to get a good idea how far out your target is, but you're still looking at 600 yards max. I hunt Whitetail with archery and a 30-30 in Northeastern Oklahoma where most deer are taken between 50 and 150 yards. I believe that's the sweet spot for this product. If you need more, if you expect more, plan to pay more." — Ken Andrews
Trending review: "This is a great tool for hunting. Clean harvest of my Louisiana Whitetail because I knew exactly how far she was (87 yards) before I took the shot. Keeps me from guessing and possibly missing, or making a bad shot and having to track a wounded animal. Bushnell continues to impress. I highly recommend this toy. I don't go hunting without it." — G. Russell
Most-discussed review: "This is a great item! Got it to give as a Christmas present for my 16 year-old son. He and my husband both love it. It seems very accurate and functions very well. On an interesting note, the battery listed here in the item description is not the battery it needed. I bought a CR 2 battery as the item description stated. To my surprise, it needed a 9 volt battery. Luckily, we had one on hand. Although the clock by my bed is temporarily out of commission, at least we were able to fiddle with the Christmas gift on Christmas morning. We were able to measure the distance from the window to the door in the living room as 12 yards. That was correct! Measured it myself. My son measured the distance from the porch to the cedar tree by our barn as 236 yards. My husband says that sounds about right. My two mighty hunters are out even now measuring stuff and making plans for how they will use the range finder in their future hunting adventures. I myself am adding a 9 volt battery to my shopping list so I can reload the alarm clock by my bed. Thanks for a great product and fast, efficient delivery!" — Jill Jolly

9. AOFAR HX-1200T - 1200 Yards Hunting Rangefinder

Top-rated: 2,547 ratings

best rangefinders for hunting

Highlight: Adopts the latest Al technology to supports bow and range two modes.

Helpful review: "I normally don't write these things but this product truly surprised me. After losing my Bushnell Yardage Pro that I had hunted with for many years, I decided to get a new one. I was looking for something less expensive. I found one or two reviews of this one and it seemed to be well liked. I got this H1200T model. There were others like it that had shorter max range but for the money, this seemed like the one I needed. The only question was if it would truly range that far. So I took it out on the opening of deer hunting in MN and found a grain silo in the distance. It locked on and gave me a result that appeared correct. Did it a couple more times and it was always within a yard or two. Verified later with a buddy's unit that it was correct. I like the 25mm objective lens for low light shooting, and the 6 power is perfect. I also love how light and easy to use it is. It came with a nice hard camo case to match the camo color on the unit. I also love the Hunter mode that compensates for arrow drop when shooting from above or below the target. Even though the brand is not well-known (by me, at least) I am extremely pleased with it so far." — R. Feldhege
Trending review: "This is very nice product. Accurate, light weight and great value for the money. I'm a seasoned hunter with many range finders bought. I got tired of the high-end products that are complicated, that easily break or malfunction in the field , and that are so complex you need an engineering degree to operate. BTW... I do have a degree but all I want is to range a deer, turkey or target. This product does it and does it well, with angle compensation if I'm bow hunting from a ladder stand. It would have been nice to have a glow reticle and readout, but I can live without that. Highly recommend." — Mr. E

10. WOSPORTS H111 - 800 Yards Bow Hunting Rangefinder

best rangefinders for hunting

Highlight: Upgraded bow hunting mode M2.

Helpful review: "If you’re reading up on this piece of equipment, please read this review!!! If you’re wanting a great range finder at good price, this is the one for you hands down. No need to try and compare other ones because this will definitely be worth the buy. I am so pleased with this purchase.
This is perfect for people on a budget needing a range finder. I use it hunting and target shooting very often. It has the golf mode, I haven’t taken it golfing, I’ve used it on fence posts and it’s really locks in that way.
I’ve ranged 600+ yds with this thing just playing around and it reads it. It has the focusing knob on the sight that helps with distances. Really accurate in my mind, reads in decimals, not full yds. So 24.3 yds. 25.2 yds. 31.7 yds. And so on.
I needed a range finder but didn’t want to drop big money on one. This has been worth every penny. I haven’t changed the battery in two years. (It will probably crap out on me in the middle of my next hunt now that I jinxed myself:(
It reads the distance instantly, reliably, and accurately. If you have small objects in the sight path of your desired target like small limbs, leaves, tall grass, it will range them. So be sure it’s on the target. Just hold it steady and it will read fine. Probably just like any other range finder out there on the market.
On the Foggy Dusky mornings it has trouble reading or won’t read at all, which I understand. I’m sure all range finders do that. I’ve used a Bushnell range finder before and I prefer this one WOSPORTS 10 to 1.
Anyway, I am very happy it this and how well it has performed over the past year. It comes with a carrying pouch, wrist strap, battery, and cleaning cloth for the lenses. Very compact, fits in your pocket if you like. I carry mine in my hunting bag. I’ve had it in the rain before. I try not hold it out in the elements the entire time, just when I need to use it. So to me it is very durable! Like I said prior. I am very pleased with this piece of equipment and definitely recommend it to anyone!!!!" — Marcie Graham

11. BIJIA - 650 Yards Laser Hunting Rangefinder

best rangefinders for hunting

Credit: Amazon.com

Highlight: 2 year warranty.

Helpful review: "Out of the box they feel a bit light and hollow, but they are not overly large as some of the less expensive units I have tried. They came camo, but came with a very bright silver carry case. Readings are to the tenth of a yard, and agree with my old Bushnell rangefinder. I expected to use this rangefinder to get accurate slope readings for archery. In archery, shooting uphill or downhill both result in using a shorter distance for aiming (gravity is acting on the arrow for a shorter distance). This rangefinder may be great for golf, but the slope distance is only for golf. Uphill shots will add distance while downhill shots subtract distance.
As an example, it showed a spot 47 yards away, and 11 degrees downhill. As an archer the actual calculation I should set my sight on is 46.1 yards. This rangefinder says I should use 37.2 yards. This is enough to completely miss a 3D target. The weird thing is this H1000 I have is camo, as though it is for hunting. It works great as a standard distance measurement device, and the optics are on par with my old Bushnell. Just know what you are getting. On a side note, the Bijia company representative has been very helpful with my questions. Customer service takes this from 4 to 5 stars." — Theo Campbell

Highlight: Easy to read yardage and flag lock display.

Helpful review: "This is PERFECT!!! I tried another brand and it was horrible, But WOSPORTS RANGE FINDER IS AWESOME. I Bow hunt so a rangefinder is a necessity. And you need one you can rely on. I really trust this thing to work perfectly, so I can make a good and clean ethical shot! I have already sighted in my bow with this rangefinder, and so far it's worked wonderfully. The ranges it gives me have been consistent +/- one yard. I will update if any changes." — TheDailyBow
Trending review: "Deer hunting in New England is usually a 100-200 yard experience. But knowing is better than guessing. This laser range finder was the perfect solution... particularly for the price! It worked right out of the box and as advertised, it was dead-accurate (I calibrated it on a known distance), optics are clear and bright, is lightweight, and compact. Plus, I might be able to use it for golf next spring! Can't beat that." — Mark Guzman
Reassuring review: "My 12 year old started bow hunting this year. A range finder was on his Christmas list along with a new Mathews. I decided to skimp a little on the range finder and buy this one I had never heard of. I'm glad I did. This range finder is fast, lite and accurate. I like it better than my Nikon." — Marcy Green
Most-discussed review: "I loved using this. It is so simple. Auto shut off, easy to turn on (just press a button). It is super reliable, especially for reasonable hunting (inside 350 yards or so). I attached it to my binocular case and found myself using it more often than them. It's great as a time killer when you are sitting in the stand to guess distances and then 'shoot' them with his range finder to confirm deny your estimates. Would highly recommend." — Matthew Horner
Updated review: "When I received this I was really surprised at how compact this rangefinder was! The photo made it look bigger but I'm really digging it's compactness. The black case it comes with is perfect for my belt, where I can have it sit on my hip! When playing around with it because I'm inpatient I was surprised at how accurate it is. And I can't wait to take it out hunting with my family!" — Melody Ryan
