I test safes for a living, and what I love most about the SentrySafe is that it's both fireproof and waterproof. Here's my hands-on review.

SentrySafe - 1.23 Cubic Feet Fireproof and Waterproof Steel Safe
Highlight: Can withstand at least one hour at 1700 degrees F.
Helpful review: Yeah, really not bad for the money. I was so excited to get it, and I def overestimated how heavy this puppy would be. It took two of us and some serious manual labor and maneuvering skills, but we finally got it where it needed to be. Once in place, I was eager to get it set up.
One thing you should note though: the safe comes with a pre-set combo code that cannot be changed. Seemed kind of sketchy at first, but then I realized that Sentry Safe offers a service to help you retrieve your code if you ever forget it, which can be a life saver, so I appreciate that. The safe also comes with two keys that add an extra layer of security, which is definitely a necessity with a thing like this.
The hinge is on the outside, and although I was a little sus in regards to that, it’s pretty solid and you can tell that the hinge is well secured. Highly unlikely that someone could pry it off. Even if they did manage to break the hinge, the door is designed in such a way that it wouldn't simply pop off–trust me, I checked this thing out. Definitely makes me confident in how this is designed.
The inside of it is pretty spacious and you can tell that the design of it is well organized. It also comes with a removable shelf and a few key hooks, which just adds extra convenience. There's even an absorbent pouch that helps to control moisture. (It’s the little things). You can also bolt this to the floor, which I opted not to do, at least for now, but it's nice to know that I have that option in the future, just for added security.
On the downside, the inside shelf isn’t the sturdiest — definitely not for anything over fifteen to twenty pounds — but it works well enough for documents and lighter items, which you can tell it was designed for. The door does take a bit of effort to open, especially if you don't pull it just right, but that’s a minor inconvenience and more a personal preference.
Overall, I’m really pleased with how this came out. It's heavy, secure, and offers plenty of room for my needs. My nephew guaranteed this safe can survive a farmhouse fire. Just take a look at the photo below. So given the price and the level of protection it offers, I think it's a great value. Just be prepared for a bit of a workout getting it into place! — Gary Anderson
